Thirty faculty members from a diverse range of academic disciplines participated in a week-long training dedicated to improving their hybrid and online courses as well as Canvas course management skills July 31 – Aug. 4, 2017.
In the hands-on workshop, participants shared and gained knowledge about how to make their courses more effective and user-friendly. Psychology faculty members Jerry Marshall and Joy Crawford introduced attendees to new accessibility tools and guidelines and facilitated discussion of important topics such as the integrity of online assessments. Green River College eLearning is now piloting new accessibility software–Ally–and a browser lockdown service–Respondus–to monitor test taking.
Faculty were able to benefit from an interactive peer learning environment and implement new organizational and operational techniques each day, giving them a jump start on fall quarter.
The eLearning Summer Institute is organized annually Marshall. For questions regarding Canvas or next year’s institute, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
