The 2016-2017 academic years officially kicked off Sept. 13 with Green River College’s Opening Day events.
Faculty and staff packed the Mel Lindbloom Student Union Grand Hall to hear opening comments from Interim President Scott Morgan, a tubo solo by Josh Gerstman, director of development, Green River Foundation, and to participate in Dr. Derek Greenfield’s interactive keynote address.
“There is a lot of work to do and we’ll get to it over the course of the year,” Morgan said. “I don’t have all the answers, heck I’ve been retired for a year, but I hope to bring a way to get the college to faces these issues, to conquer these issues, together […] I challenge ourselves to do a better job in serving our students.”
Faculty and staff were also recognized for Inspirus and Outstanding Staff Awards, and 2016 service awards.
