More than 50 faculty, staff, students and community members gathered outside the Mel Lindbloom Student Union on May 26 to watch the unveiling of a 25-year-old time capsule and the raising of the College’s original flag pole as part of Green River’s 50th anniversary celebration.
According to Diane Anderson, manager of the Green River College Enumclaw campus, the flag pole dates back to the opening of Green River College in 1965.
The time capsule was placed in the Holman Library to commemorate the Colleges 25th Anniversary. Items included, but were not limited to, copies of the student newspaper, an academic catalog and menus from the student cafeteria.
The ceremony will included brief remarks by Student Government and College officials, as well as a performance by the Green River Jazz Voices.
